    Don't go here

They fired all of the TAs while I was here and our best instructor. You don't get what you pay for. The learning experience is trash, and their courseware is way oversimplified compared to what you do in the real world. They don't teach any data structures or algorithms, this place only exists as a scam to steal your money as they are way overpriced for what you get. Go anywhere else, or better yet, teach yourself. I paid $31000 for a subpar education.

The students are teaching while you pay $15k-$30k

App academy has seemed to drastically change in their approach to learning. What was once raved as the best bootcamp, is now down there with the rest of them. I have been to 3 different cohorts. All those cohorts are STUDENTS being the lead instructors. I've dug into each of their profiles and resumes. They were ex app academy students who graduated the program but never landed an actual software engineer job. Nor do they come from a real swe role. Whereas all of us who are new to the pr...

    Great experience for me

Know what you are signing up for. For me it was a great course, I learned alot, got a job, even in an awful market, and did it all in less time and for less money than a typical degree. If you do this you will learn alot and a valuable skill set, but you may be unemployed for a year or more during it and the job search.

    Be prepared

The resources for your success is all here.

If you are familiar with pushing yourself and achieving something you didn't know you could, take a chance and come here.
If you haven't, think hard. This isn't the first risk you should take in your life.

Some of the readings contain aggregated information with historical content that you would waste days or even weeks of your life to find.

    Unhelpful and outmoded

Very little of what was taught was anything that the market was seeking. That said, I was able to land a job somewhere around six months after I finished the bootcamp, so, I hope you have a nest egg. In 2023 myself, and many other software engineers were laid off - this is a known thing and some of my friends who are decade long veterans in the industry lost their jobs and are STILL unable to find work. The things I learned at App Academy do not set me apart from typical applicants and I...

    Supportive Staff and Worthy Investment

App Academy gave me the skills I needed to take my first step as a Software Engineer. The staff/instructors are awesome, and they hire new grads from App Academy as TAs so that they are always aware of the students' wants and needs.

    Tough but fair

I went through the in person bootcamp experience at New York City. I thought the program was definitely extremely challenging at times and know that it's definitely not for everyone. However I felt that the environment, staff, instructors, and people I was with at the time were very encouraging and it was an overall great place for education and growth. Luckily I was able to land a job with help from both my cohort mates and job placement staff after a few months but I am definitely very...

    A Terrible Rip-Off

I was recommended App Academy from someone who graduated from there a year ago and received a job (8 months later), so I decided to give it a try. First and foremost, they are not the same App Academy as of even a year ago. My friend who graduated has also said how terrible the leadership has gotten, and they even at one point fired all the support for the students mid day without warning (https://www.reddit.com/r/codingbootcamp/comments/11zyz18/app_academy_fired_all_cohort_leaders_for_a...

Landed a job 4 months after graduating

I did the Online full time program with a/A and it was a great experience. I definitely recommend it to those who would like a career change and have the drive to work extra time. I managed to get a job 4 months after graduating.

    Life Changing Experience

I was looking for a career change and this program was recommended by a friend who had gone through it. After reviewing some other bootcamps, I ultimately decided this was going to be the best for me. (I did this all online because it was COVID times).
The teaching is great with plenty of coaching available from the staff and your other cohort mates. The curriculum is very well thought out, and its apparent that they are always trying to improve on its structure. The weekly tests are ...

    Great school

App Academy taught me the skills necessary to succeed in the software industry. I heavily leveraged their partnership program to get connected with the right company and I landed a fantastic job after 3~4 months. This is absolutely true.

However, it’s naive to think that their 24 week course will give you ultimate super powers. What they offer is teaching you how to research and learn as an independent thinker. You will become very intelligent, leading to incredible strength on a...

    Successfully break into software engineering

I chose App Academy because it was one of the few bootcamps that still offered an in-person experience. I attended App Academy’s 16-week in person software engineering program in San Francisco. Being able to have your instructors there with you and pair program with your peers in-person was invaluable. If being in-person is something you can commit to, I highly recommend it!
The coursework is rigorous (about 8 hrs of lectures/programming during the day and a few...
